Last year, students at Kingston College and their teachers took part in the ESOL Nature Photography Project, an inspiring initiative that combined creativity, wellbeing and fundraising. I am currently preparing the ESOL Photography Exhibition, which will take place in the Kingston College atrium from 16–20 November 2026.

Last year, ESOL students and teachers at Kingston College took part in the ESOL Nature Photography Project, an inspiring initiative that combined creativity, wellbeing and fundraising. Building on the success of the project, the College is now preparing the ESOL Photography Exhibition, which will showcase students' work in the Kingston College atrium from 16-20 November 2026, celebrating their creative achievements and experiences.

As part of the project, students visited local parks and green spaces to take photographs of different aspects of nature. They captured the beauty of flowers, trees, wildlife, landscapes and the changing seasons, while developing their observation, photography and communication skills. The project encouraged students to spend time outdoors, appreciate the natural environment and see their surroundings from a new perspective.

The experience had a very positive impact on learners. Spending time in nature, exploring the park and engaging in a creative activity helped students to relax, reduce stress and improve their overall mental wellbeing. Many reported feeling happier, calmer and more connected to both nature and their classmates after the visits.

The project also supported an important charitable cause. Students raised money for Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity and were proud to know that their work was helping people in need, making the project even more meaningful.

It was a great success and together, the students and teachers raised over £170 for Shelter, helping to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

If you have enjoyed viewing the photographs, there is a collection bucket in the Kingston College Atrium area. If you would like to and are able to do so, please consider making a donation to this important cause. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference.
