Second-year Merton College student, George, is gaining valuable real-world experience through the T Level in Digital Software Development, AI & Emerging Technologies.
As part of the qualification, George is completing a 45-day industry placement with IT company Breaking Free, where he has been involved in a range of computing projects and worked directly with clients. The experience has enabled him to develop technical expertise alongside essential professional skills, particularly communication and problem solving.
George believes the combination of industry experience and classroom learning has helped prepare him for his future career ambitions and plans to progress to an IT Apprenticeship after completing his studies.
George said: "My industry placement has been one of the most rewarding parts of the course. Working on real projects and communicating with clients has given me a much better understanding of how the industry operates. It's built my confidence, strengthened my communication skills and confirmed that I want to pursue a career in IT consulting."
