First-year Merton College student, James, is already building the foundations for a successful career in the digital sector through the T Level in Digital Software Development, AI & Emerging Technologies.
James chose the qualification because it allows him to specialise entirely in IT while gaining practical experience through the programme's mandatory industry placement element.
Later in his course, James will complete a 45-day work placement, giving him the opportunity to apply his learning in a professional environment and develop valuable workplace skills.
Looking ahead, James is considering progression to either university or employment, with particular interests in Cyber Security and Video Game Development.
James said: "I wanted a qualification that would allow me to focus on the subject I'm passionate about while also gaining practical experience. The industry placement is one of the things that attracted me to the course because it will help me stand out when applying for university or jobs. I'm excited to explore careers in Cyber Security and Game Development and build the skills employers are looking for."
