Kingston College has partnered with London Square, Nile Training Centre and the Royal Borough of Kingston to create a direct pathway into careers in the construction sector for Electrical Installation students.
As part of the pilot programme, students received funded CSCS card training through Nile Training Centre, visited London Square's County Hall development site and met industry professionals working across the project. Once qualified, students' CVs are shared with subcontractors, helping them access work experience, apprenticeship and employment opportunities on one of Kingston's flagship developments.
The initiative was designed to bridge the gap between education and employment, giving students first-hand insight into working on a live construction site while developing the qualifications and skills required by employers. Following the recent site visit, London Square confirmed that students' CVs would be shared with subcontractors and work experience placements arranged as soon as their CSCS cards are obtained.
The success of the 2025/26 pilot has led to the programme being extended into 2026/27, with funding secured to support further opportunities for students! The partnership continues to strengthen links between local employers and education providers while helping to develop a pipeline of skilled local talent for the construction industry.
