For second-year Kingston College student Leticia, choosing a T Level in Health was a clear decision from the outset. With ambitions to progress to university and pursue a career in either adult or paediatric nursing, she wanted a qualification that would provide both academic challenge and practical experience. The T Level's combination of classroom learning, industry placement opportunities and access to Kingston College's specialist Health Suite made it the ideal choice.
Throughout the course, Leticia has combined academic learning with valuable real-world experience through her industry placement. She has already completed part of her compulsory 45-day placement at Princess Alice Hospice, where she gained first-hand insight into patient care and the realities of working in a healthcare setting. The experience helped her develop confidence, compassion and professionalism, while also earning a Certificate in Care. For the next stage of her placement, Leticia hopes to gain experience within the NHS, further expanding her knowledge of healthcare environments as she prepares for a future career in nursing.
Alongside her placement, Leticia has embraced the academic rigour of the qualification, which includes written examinations, practical assessments and project-based work designed to prepare students for higher education and employment.
Following the successful completion of her T Level, Leticia plans to progress to university to study nursing and continue her journey into the healthcare profession.
Leticia said: "I had very specific goals for university and wanted a qualification that would give me the strongest possible preparation and grades for a nursing degree. The T Level stood out because it combines academic study, practical skills and meaningful industry placements. Studying in the Health Suite and completing my placement at Princess Alice Hospice have given me valuable insight into healthcare and helped me grow in confidence. I'm hoping to complete the next part of my placement within the NHS, which will give me even more experience before university. The course has challenged me to manage exams, projects and practical assessments, but that's exactly what's preparing me for higher education and a future career in nursing. It's been an incredibly rewarding experience."
