English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes are run at a variety of different levels, from Elementary to Advanced or Proficiency. All courses cover grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation and give students the necessary speaking and listening skills practice to enable them to progress to the next level.
We also offer English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for 16-18 and 19+ students. The ESOL Skills for Life programme is for people who wish to make their home in this country - for example, settled immigrant communities, refugees, asylum seekers and migrant workers.
“The three years I studied at Kingston College were the most enjoyable and best years of my life. I never thought that I would study a BSc in Physics when I first enrolled.” Rafay Khan, ESOL Horizons Level 1
It’s a very good course with many advantages and benefits for those who are learning the language. It is only necessary to have a lot of dedication and everything will be very rewarding. As a student of this course I had the opportunity to make visits to some important museums and places that helped me to know more about the history of the country.
"The three years I studied at Kingston College were the most enjoyable and best years of my life. I never thought that I would study a BSc in Physics when I first enrolled. I still miss everything about Kingston College, whether it was lessons in a classroom or playing football and badminton in the sports hall. The best thing, which I still miss and will never forget, is the classroom lessons."
Rafay studied ESOL Horizons Level 1, followed by full-time GCSEs and then Access to Science at Kingston College before heading to University of Kent to study BSc (Hons) Phsyics. Rafay achieved what he “only imagined was possible” a few short years ago.
I’ve really enjoyed the practicals and experiments and the case studies and documentaries. College life is sort of what I’d expected but is less stressful than I thought it would be. I’ve learned to be independent with my studies. The opportunities I’ve loved are the sports clubs at lunch which I’ve been constantly going to. I’ve met a lot of amazing teachers and friends who are very passionate about their learning.
Nothing is impossible. Even the word itself says ‘I’m possible’.
“Studying at Kingston College was a great opportunity for me as I was able to explore and expand all my areas of knowledge. During this year I was deeply encouraged by my teachers and learning supporters, who helped me to learn more about my passions and choose wisely my next steps. I am also grateful for each one of the friends that I made during this year, nothing compares to the memories that I shared with them.”
