“I chose to study a BTEC because I am not a very academic person and wanted to go into a more vocational course, where I would be able to excel in an environment where exams weren't the main focus.
“After completing my course at Kingston College I intend to join the fire service. I am going to spend the next year building my strength and physical abilities in order to meet all of the requirements. I want to do this in order to help people, the BTEC in Uniformed Protection Services has helped me to be better prepared for this career path.
“College was not what I expected, I expected it to be a lot less interesting! I didn't expect to make such good friends as I thought everything would be a lot more strict and there would be no opportunity to form bonds with staff and peers.
“When applying to a course I would say to make sure that you are applying for something that you will find interesting as well as useful. Being genuinely interested in everything I learnt over the last two years has made the most difference to benefit my grades.
“I really enjoyed all of the trips and experiences we had as a class. I particularly loved the opportunity to visit Paddington fire station and being able to participate in different fitness tests at the fire station and getting to wear the PPE.
“I loved being taught by Wayne Miley and Pascale Sammy, as well as making some proper life long friends who I can't wait to keep spending time with over the next few years.”
