BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Uniformed Protection Services- Public Services Year 1 of 2 Extended Diploma)
The Foundation Diploma is a one year, full time Year 1 of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in uniformed protection services (public services), it is aimed at learners who want academic experience and who may aspire to apply to university. There is a good balance between coursework and practical work so this course will test your knowledge and skills. You will also develop critical skills such as leadership, teamwork, effective communication and problem solving skills
This qualification is equivalent to 1 1/2 A Levels, which means that when you have finished the course you may choose to go into full time employment. However, the natural progression is onto the Year 2 Extended Diploma in uniformed protection services Programme (with a maximum of 168 UCAS points being available).
If topping up into year two, most students progress to university to study a range of subjects. Recent graduates have secured places in Criminology, Paramedic Science, Forensic Science, Policing and Nursing at Russell Group universities (Exeter, Manchester, Durham, Nottingham, Southampton, Bristol, Cardiff & Kings). Limited Places, so early application is advised.

Course Content
Year 1 - Citizenship and Diversity (Pearson-set), Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services, Physical Preparation, Health and Wellbeing, Teamwork, Leadership and Communication in the 120 Uniformed Protective Services, Introduction to Criminology, Police Powers and the Law.Year 2 - Student will progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma and study the following modules such as Criminal Investigation Procedures and Practice, Research Skills in the Uniformed Protective Services, Government and the Protective Services, Physical Preparation, Health and Wellbeing and Global Affairs, the Media and the Uniformed Protective Services.
There are two exam units (externally assessed) and 4 coursework units (internally assessed).
