A group of exceptional ESOL and Access to HE learners at Kingston College were recognised at Kingston Rotary Adult Achievement Awards on Monday 8 June 2026, attended by the Mayor of Kingston upon Thames, Councillor Thay Thayalan. The awards, which took place in the Queen Anne Suite in the Guildhall, is an annual event which celebrates the achievements of adults in the borough who may have experienced hardships in life but still managed to succeed in education.
Emily Limna, Programme Leader – Art & Design, commented: “It was a lovely celebratory event with citations read by tutors, describing the incredible resilience shown and wonderful achievements despite complex personal difficulties. There were so many truly inspiring journeys and we are incredibly proud! Special mention to my two Access to HE Art & Design learners, Inna and Reinaldo.”
Catriona Lansdell, Curriculum Manager, said: “As a regular attendee of the annual Rotary awards, I am always humbled to be in the presence of students who against the odds, can achieve their goals through their hard work and determination. On behalf of myself , Sue Brahams and Marta Alvim, we are all very proud of our Access to Humanities and Law students Laiba, Emily and Negeena. We wish them all the luck in their future endeavours.”
ESOL Tutors Ishita and Alison, said: “It was a wonderful celebration of the achievements of adult learners across the borough, with so many inspiring stories shared throughout the evening. We were especially proud to see our ESOL learners recognised for their hard work, determination and resilience. Many have overcome significant challenges while pursuing their studies, and it was fantastic to see their achievements celebrated in such a special setting.”
