Engineering student Esmondwas named Best Learner for Merton College at the 2026 Committee of South London Principals (COSLP) Awards. As a high-needs learner with Autism, Esmond found communicationchallenging –but he overcame this barrier to play an active part in lessons. Through his own determinationand hard work, Esmond progressed through the course with flying colours.
Engineering lecturer Syed Ali, who recognised and supported Esmond’s potential, was awarded Best Teacher for his patience, advocacy and expert mentorship.
Students and Teachers attended aspecial awards ceremony at the House of Lords.
