When Maja enrolled on our Level 3 Diploma in Policing, her goal was to join the Police Service. While her career aspirations were forced to change, the course proved to be the perfect foundation for Maja’s next stage of her journey. Having gained the highest grade possible, Distinction, Maja developed essential skills and confidence through her studies and is now progressing to Cambridge’s Anglia Ruskin University to study BSc (Hons) Psychology with Clinical Applications, with plans to pursue a doctorate specialising in children's mental health.
“I chose the Level 3 Diploma in Policing as it was an ideal course for me as I wanted to join the Police and still do! I had hoped to secure a Police Apprenticeship but unfortunately, I didn’t get in, so I’ve accepted a place at Anglia Ruskin University to study BSc (Hons) Psychology with Clinical Applications followed by a doctorate.
“On the Policing course I was able to improve my teamwork and leadership skills through group activities, as well as learning about legislation in the police and their job application process; my favourite topic had to be the Crime Scene Investigation.
“I would recommend Kingston College as it offers a lot of different courses, it’s easy to commute to and the teachers were great, supporting me using verbal and written feedback, as well as checking in making sure I was on the right track. I also made lifelong friends who encouraged me to open up more and be less shy. On the residential trip to Wales, I made new friendships with students on the Uniformed Public Services course - and memories which I’ll cherish.”
