COSLP Best Learner and Teacher Awards

The Committee of South London Principals (COSLP) recently held their 2026 Best Student and Teacher Awards at the House of Lords to celebrate their very best learners and exceptional teachers.

OUR WINNERS

Best Student

Business student, Karim, received his award in recognition of his outstanding dedication and consistently positive approach to learning. With 100% attendance throughout the year, Karim demonstrated exceptional commitment, approaching every lesson with enthusiasm and a willingness to engage. As highlighted in his award citation, “Karim is an outstanding learner whose dedication and positivity have made a significant impact throughout the year.”

He is widely respected within the College community for his friendly and respectful nature, building strong relationships with both staff and fellow students. In the classroom, Karim is an active participant, regularly sharing thoughtful ideas and contributing to discussions. His academic work reflects both effort and organisation with his citation noting that “his work is always submitted on time and is supported by thorough, well researched content.”

Karim has also shown maturity and self-awareness in his learning journey. He works closely with his learning coach to structure his ideas effectively and proactively addresses challenges, demonstrating resilience and determination. Beyond the classroom, he has volunteered for a range of enrichment activities, including marketing videos and open days. Staff describe him as “a role model of commitment, resilience and positivity.”

Best Teacher

Also recognised was Karim’s tutor, Christine Gnanayutham, whose impact as an educator has been described as transformative. Her citation praised her as “an exceptional educator whose dedication, creativity, and care consistently elevate the learning experience for every student.”

Christine is known for building strong, meaningful relationships with her learners, taking time to understand individual needs and creating an inclusive classroom environment. Her approach ensures that all students feel supported and encouraged, with the citation noting that she creates “a classroom atmosphere where everyone feels valued, supported and confident to take risks.”

Her commitment to student success extends beyond teaching, offering personalised support that motivates learners to achieve their full potential. In addition to her work with students, Christine plays a significant role in supporting colleagues “willingly sharing resources, offering thoughtful guidance and contributing positively to the wider team with generosity and professionalism.”
