Safeguarding

Foundation Learning students at Kingston College worked collaboratively to organise a successful Movie Night fundraiser, working in partnership with the Foundation Learning Math Cafe students.

This inclusive event provided an excellent opportunity for students to apply their mathematical and digital skills in a real-world context, resulting in a well-planned and engaging experience for all involved. Curriculum Lead Eireann Brooks and Course Tutor Hannah Clementson stepped back to allow the students to take full control of the project whilst also raising money for the British Heart Foundation Charity.

To support the organisation of the event, posters were created using digitall, Spreadsheet Surveys were created to gather responses on preferred film genres and to collect further feedback regarding the food that the Math Cafe students were preparing. Students used this information to make informed decisions and ensure that the event reflected the interests and preferences of the wider group.

The venue was transformed into a cinema-style setting, demonstrating creativity, teamwork and attention to detail. Priority seating was provided for students with hearing and sight impairments, ensuring that the event was accessible and inclusive for all participants. The fundraiser highlighted the commitment of students to working together effectively while developing valuable transferable skills.
