Kingston College was delighted to welcome back former student Eli, who studied Level 2 Electrical Installation during the last academic year, to speak with current students about his journey into the industry.
After successfully completing his course, Eli progressed on to a Level 3 Apprenticeship with UK Power Networks - a highly sought-after opportunity that marks an exciting step in his career as an electrician.
During his visit, Eli shared valuable insights with current Level 2 Electrical Installation students, giving them a real-world perspective on working as an apprentice in the energy sector. His talk provided an honest and inspiring look into the skills, challenges and rewards that come with the role.
Eli was joined by Tasha Paramasamy, STEM Outreach and Development Specialist at UK Power Networks, who plays a key role in supporting and managing apprentices within the organisation.
Reflecting on his time at Kingston College, Eli said: “Coming to Kingston College and studying Level 2 Electrical Installations was the best decision I made in my life.
“I was able to start my journey towards becoming an electrician, and the amazing teaching and technical staff here gave me the strong foundation I needed. The skills I developed at Kingston College helped me successfully secure my apprenticeship at UK Power Networks.
“I really enjoy working as an apprentice - the work is varied, challenging and highly rewarding. The pay is also excellent. Life is good.”
