The Committee of South London Principals (COSLP) recently held their 2026 Best Student and Teacher Awards at the House of Lords to celebrate their very best learners and exceptional teachers.

Best Student
Praise’s journey at Carshalton College is truly exceptional and one we are immensely proud to celebrate. She joined in 2021 as a pre-entry Foundation Learning student, requiring a high level of support at the outset of her studies. Through patience, determination, and consistent hard work, Praise steadily developed her skills, confidence, and independence, progressing through each stage of her education with resilience and focus.
From Foundation Learning to the successful completion of a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design, Praise has far exceeded expectations. This level of progression is rare and reflects not only outstanding academic achievement, but also remarkable personal growth. Her dedication to developing her creative practice, alongside her positive attitude and strong work ethic, has been a source of inspiration to both peers and staff.
Praise’s achievements have culminated in receiving unconditional university offers to study Illustration, an extraordinary outcome and a powerful testament to how far she has come and the potential she holds for the future.
Best Teacher
Praise was supported throughout her journey by many dedicated members of staff, especially Annette Vigurs.
Annette is an extremely organised passionate Art & Design teacher who uses a range of teaching approaches to ensure every student is supported. She is calm, engaging, and resilient in different situations, and is always available to offer help and guidance.
She consistently provides positive, encouraging feedback on students’ individual art styles, which is valued greatly by all her students.
Annette is truly an outstanding teacher who provides exceptional support to students and fully deserves recognition for the positive impact she has at Carshalton College.
