ESOL + Adult Social Care
This course is aimed at Adults who wish to enrol on an ESOL L1 or 2 programme and study a Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care alongside their ESOL programme. Applicants must be operating at Level 1 in English. All applicants are required to take an English initial assessment prior to being interviewed by the Health team.
This course must be taken in addition to ESOL Level 1 or 2 at Kingston College.

Course Content
Alongside an ESOL qualification, student choose one of the following programmes:Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health This course will provide an overview of various mental health conditions and equip/educate learners with effective ways to support children and young people. From anxiety and depression to situations such as cyberbullying, this course covers a range of topics and is essential for any adult concerned about the mental health of a child or young person.
Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Health and Social Care The qualification covers the areas of communication, equality, diversity and inclusion, personal development, role of the social care worker, handling information, health and safety, safeguarding, duty of care and person-centred approaches.
Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Personal Care Needs This qualification provides an ideal taster for those who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to adult learners who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector. The qualification covers the areas of communication, equality, diversity and inclusion, personal development, role of the social care worker, handling information, health and safety, safeguarding, duty of care and person-centred approaches.
Level 2 Certificate in the Safe Handling of Medication in Health & Social Care This qualification aims to help learners develop: a general understanding of different types of medication and their use, knowledge of the procedures for obtaining, storing, administering and disposing of medication, an understanding of legislation and the audit process related to medication and issues of responsibility and accountability and an understanding of the record-keeping process for medication.

Assessment Details
Students studying the Level 2 Health Certificates will complete a portfolio of evidence. A variety of assessment methods will be used including case study, practical work and written work.
