Students from 1st, 2nd and 3rd year Production Arts – Technical Theatre at Kingston College recently demonstrated their exceptional talent and professionalism in a large-scale theatrical production hosted by Mayhem Theatre Company, who hired the theatre for a week-long run. The show attracted over 1,000 audience members across five sold-out performances.
With a cast of 40 performers, an 8-piece live band and 24 radio microphones in operation, the scale of the production was ambitious and impressive. Behind the scenes, students took full responsibility for lighting, sound, stage management, front of house and duty technician roles - demonstrating the breadth of their training.
Ian Tyrrell, Production Manager (Theatre), praised the students’ efforts, saying:
“Each student involved was fantastic and professional, delivering a West End quality show on a very limited budget. The commitment and hours put in was brilliant and it is always a joy to be involved with such fantastic students.”
This collaboration with Mayhem Theatre Company offered students invaluable real-world experience, providing a taste of professional theatre and the opportunity to apply their skills in a high-pressure, live performance environment. It was a fantastic work experience that will serve them well as they prepare to enter the industry. Congratulations to all involved for an unforgettable production!
