First year Business students at Kingston College recently visited the beautiful city of Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region. The trip included a tour of the Spanish Parliament, where they observed the legislative process in action. The students were keen to broaden their understanding of the legal and economic environments in both the UK and Europe.

They spent the following days visiting two of Spain’s major businesses. At the Torras chocolate factory, the students learned about quality management and how effective this must be before the chocolates are distributed, which was followed by a fascinating walking tour of the City’s Gothic Quarter. The highlight of the visit was the Codorniu Winery where the students explored different aspects of production, marketing and international trade, culminating in a fascinating train tour of the underground cellar. The students concluded their visit with an informative session at the Barcelona Stock Exchange where they covered investment strategies, the changes in the stock exchange since Covid-19, and overall enhanced their understanding of global financial markets.
