We are pleased to announce that one of our Prince's Trust students has won the England Country Breakthrough Winner Award sponsored by Delta Airlines.
Florent Ismajli (pictured centre) was presented the award at the Prince's Trust, TK Maxx & Homesense Awards ceremony on Monday 30 January accompanied by Dylan England, Learning Mentor and Michelle Fenlon, Course Leader.
23 year-old Florent Ismajli, from Croydon South London, has made positive steps towards creating a brighter future for himself with the support of Carshalton College and The Prince’s Trust, despite facing significant challenges growing up and, in his education.
At Carshalton College, Florent needed additional support with his learning and staff believed that after completing various programmes over several years, he would benefit from taking part in a Prince’s Trust course. Florent took part in Team, a 12-week personal development course.
At times during the programme, Florent found complex words and instructions difficult to understand, due to English being an additional language. However, he soon adapted and became really comfortable with peers and staff. His confidence grew quickly and for his work placement Florent gained experience in a local retail construction company, Harris & Bailey. Florent is now using the skills and experience he gained from the programme to actively look for employment.
We are so proud of Florent and his progress throughout his years at College has been exceptional!
