Learners from across the South Thames Colleges Group came together for a thrilling and inspiring trial Chess Tournament, proudly hosted at South Thames College and expertly organised by Cross‑Group Enrichment Events Officer, Taylor Webb. The event united students from all four colleges in a lively, fast‑paced knockout competition that was a brilliant celebration of talent and teamwork.

Players battled in electrifying 5‑minute matches, with the majority of participants aged 16–18, alongside a handful of passionate older learners. All competitors represented their colleges with pride, delivering outstanding play throughout the tournament. The event featured nail-bitingly close matches, dazzling strategies, and unwavering sportsmanship from start to finish.

This successful trial marks a promising first step toward building more chess‑focused enrichment opportunities across the Group.
