South Thames Colleges Group is extremely proud of our BTEC students’ achievements. Our largest programme, BTEC National Extended Diploma, equivalent to three A Levels, had some incredible results with students achieving Triple Distinction*, equivalent to three A* grades at A Level.
John O'Shea, Executive Principal, commented: “We are absolutely delighted with the results across the Group. We were really proud of our results from last year and they have improved again. There have been incredible results in our largest group of courses (BTECs) with over 2400 students achieving this qualification. We had improvements in all our second year programmes with pass rates well over 95% overall and our A Levels were 98% pass, with over 70% gaining high grades. On top of this we have a record number of students, well over 600, progressing to university this year. All this builds on our best ever Ofsted from last year and firmly places us as one of the best FE providers in London.”
Peter Mayhew-Smith, Group Principal and CEO, said: “We are absolutely delighted to see so many great results in our A Level, BTEC and other courses. Our students and staff have all worked so hard and been thoroughly rewarded. Really well done!”

Dara was a Student Ambassador and member of the Student Council and is actively seeking a Degree Apprenticeship in IT. She says: “I’m passionate about gaining hands-on experience while continuing to learn. As a backup plan, I intend to study an MEng in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at Queen’s University Belfast. I also plan to take the ISC2 exam later this year to become a Fellow in Cybersecurity, which aligns with my long-term goal of building a career in cybersecurity.”
