Carshalton College students recently had the opportunity to explore career paths in the automotive industry during a visit to Stellantis & You. The day included a guided tour of the company’s state-of-the-art workshops, a presentation about the business, and a Q&A session covering apprenticeship opportunities, required qualifications, and employer expectations.
Stellantis & You, headquartered in Coventry, is the world’s second-largest car manufacturer with over 125 years of industry experience. The company works with well-known brands such as Fiat, Citroën, Peugeot, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, and Vauxhall.
During the visit, students met Dylan, an apprentice who has been with Stellantis & You for nearly a year. He shared insights into his role, detailing his daily tasks and the skills he is developing through hands-on experience.
The company also praised a Carshalton College student, Kamran, who recently completed a work experience placement with them. A Stellantis representative said:
“Kamran is a very polite and well-mannered young man. It has been a pleasure to have him with us this week. He has demonstrated a solid understanding of motor vehicles, a willingness to learn, and an ability to ask the right questions. He has also shown pride in his work and taken initiative in completing tasks, including tidying up without being asked. Having worked with three different levels of technicians, we hope he found the experience valuable. Kamran is welcome to return for further work experience in the future.”
The visit provided students with a valuable look into the automotive industry, equipping them with knowledge about potential career paths and the skills required to succeed.
