The South Thames Colleges Group Business Awards were held in June, with a range of employers nominated in different categories. One of the businesses put forward by Merton College was London 24/7 Electrical Ltd, which was nominated for the Industry Placement of the Year Award, for providing a highly rated platform for two students to conduct an 8-month work experience placement. London 24/7 Electrical Ltd stated that students Arek and Wojciech were an absolute credit to themselves and to the College.
Arek says: "I learned so much with the team at London 24/7 Electrical and would like to thank them, especially Robert and Darren who I spent the most time with. I found the team very professional and, for me personally, it was great to be able to put into practice what I had been studying at College."
Mark Neve, Managing Director said: "We were delighted to assist Merton College. When I first spoke to the Jeanette who organises work experience for the College I was certain that we wanted to help. We interviewed both students as if we were taking them on properly and subjected them to the same levels of checks such as a CRB, manual handling training, asbestos training and working at heights training. Once inducted they have both been a pleasure to work with and it has been great to see them develop their confidence over the weeks. I would like to thank both students for their professionalism and wish them both luck in their futures. We also look forward to continuing this relationship with the College each year from now on in order to help give the next generation of electricians experience as they embark on their careers."
