Match Report by Head Coach, Charlie Croydon: Our Men’s Football Academy continues to build momentum as our A team took on top of the table Eastleigh FC and walked away with all three points last Wednesday. On what was a wet and windy day, the squad arrived with minimal preparation to the Hampshire venue due to bad traffic, but the players didn’t let this affect their mindset and their performance.

The team started quickly playing high up the pitch and allowing their opponents no time to build any momentum. The early pressure led to multiple chances being created before Zhiwan (No.10) struck a brilliant first-time effort from 25 yards having caught sight of the out-of-position goalkeeper, a fantastic example of quick thinking and superb technique. Shortly after, Zhiwan struck again from the edge of the box, again, another sharp first-time finish into the bottom right to put us 2-0 up and in control of the tie.

In the second half, our opponents came into the game a little more, where they were able to convert from the spot - disappointing to give them a lifeline. At 2-1 the game was in the balance with chances at both ends and neither team able to take advantage, however, with seconds left their No.9 broke through the centre of the pitch only to be denied by what was a superb piece of goalkeeping from Tyrese, getting his start position just right and by staying big he was able to get his outstretched leg to the ball and secure all three points for our boys - a fantastic win away from home for our boys!”
