Safeguarding

The clapping was thunderous and spirits were sky high at Kingston College today as the Class of 2024 came together with family and friends to celebrate across three Graduation Ceremonies.

The College Sports Hall was transformed for the day with live performances from Music and Performing Arts - Dance students, all expertly produced by Tech Theatre students. Each class was invited onto the stage to collect their certificates and were enthusiastically applauded by the packed audience. A number of students were recognised for their outstanding achievements and exceptional work ethic.

College Principal John O’Shea, in his speech to graduates, urged them to not be afraid of failing quoting superstar US basketball player, Michael Jordan, who famously said: “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. I can accept failure, everyone fails at something, but I can’t accept not trying again.”

The Principal went on to thank his team of dedicated staff: “The reason we are all here today is because of the amazing staff. Someone once told me to surround yourself with people who are better than you, that you’re only as good as the staff you work with. That couldn’t be truer than here at Kingston.

“We are incredibly proud of our graduating students and we wish them all the best for a very bright onward journey.”

Before and after the ceremony, there were plenty of fun opportunities for graduates to have their photos taken in a photo booth, giant deck chair and on a dedicated 'Graduation 2024' mini-stage - and to say emotional farewells to their tutors and peers.

Thank you to everyone who organised the graduation for our students. We wish our students our heartfelt congratulations and very best wishes for their future.
