Harvey is a Manufacturing Engineering apprentice employed by electronic engineering firm, Drumgrange. As part of his Apprenticeship, Harvey completes the academic element of his qualification at Kingston College, developing the theoretical knowledge that complements his hands‑on training at Drumgrange.

Why did you decide to do an Apprenticeship at Kingston College?

“I chose Kingston College mainly because of its location, as it allowed me to balance studying alongside my Apprenticeship while working close to home. I chose a BTEC because the coursework‑based structure suited both engineering and the way I learn.”

What stood out to you about the course when you applied?

“What stood out to me was how well the course fitted around my Apprenticeship. The clear structure and tutor support helped me stay organised, motivated and confident while balancing work and study.”

What skills have you developed and what are you plans for the future?

“The course helped build my discipline and motivation and provided a strong academic foundation. After completing the course, I am progressing to Level 6 study at Chichester University, before moving into full‑time work in engineering.”

What would you say to someone thinking about studying Engineering at Kingston College?

“I would recommend Kingston College to anyone looking to study engineering while balancing work or an Apprenticeship, as the structure and support make it achievable!”
