Kingston College students studying Level 2 Certificate, Level 2 Diploma, Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, and T Level programmes in Early Years enjoyed an action-packed three‑day residential at Gower Activity Centre, taking part in coastal exploration, adrenaline-fuelled challenges and evening activities designed to build confidence and community.
Coastal Discovery and Wildlife Encounters
The trip began with a scenic coastal walk where students explored the historic Port Eynon Salt House and the hidden gem of Culver Hole. Along the shoreline, they searched rock pools for crabs and other marine life, guided by staff who shared insights into the local ecosystem. One highlight was discovering a loose limpet, sparking curiosity as students examined the shell and learned more about the creature inside.
Coasteering, Cliff Adventures and a Surprise Visitor
The next day brought the biggest thrill of the week: coasteering along the rugged Gower coastline. Students climbed down cliff edges, leapt into the sea from various heights and navigated the water with growing confidence. The group even had an unexpected companion - a seal that appeared during the session, adding a memorable wildlife moment to the day.
Later, students had the option to abseil down cliffs right at the water’s edge, pushing their limits and supporting one another through each challenge.
A Relaxed Finale and Celebrations
The last day offered a calmer pace, with a gentle walk to the beach followed by garden games and a certificate presentation to celebrate the students’ achievements.
Evenings Filled with Fun and Friendship
Across the three nights, students enjoyed a competitive games evening and plenty of downtime to socialise. Mingling between friendship groups, they played card games, listened to music or settled in for a movie - the evenings helped strengthen bonds across all course levels.
