Diana, a Level 2 Health and Social Care student at Kingston College, was recently selected to volunteer at the AoC Sport National Championships, hosted at the University of Nottingham. The AoC Sport National Championships are the largest annual further education student sporting event in the UK, bringing together nearly 1,700 college students from across the country.
At the Championships, Diana gained valuable volunteering experience, supporting tennis events by welcoming competitors, helping ensure they knew what to do, and playing an active role in medal ceremonies. She also supported pan‑disability football, contributing to an inclusive and well‑organised sporting environment.
This opportunity was made possible through Diana’s regular attendance at KC Active sessions. Diana first joined KC Active last year with no previous experience in badminton, but through consistent participation she became a frequent and committed attendee. Her engagement and enthusiasm led her to successfully apply to become the College’s This Girl Can Ambassador through the AoC Sport Student Leadership Programme. In this role, she actively encourages and inspires female students across the College to take part in physical activity.
Through the Student Leadership Programme, Diana has grown significantly in confidence, built new friendships through training days and volunteering, and discovered a passion for being involved in a sporting environment, particularly enjoying sports such as netball. Diana is a hardworking, kind, and positive individual and is an exemplary student who represents the College with pride. Congratulations Diana on being selected as a volunteer and well done for all the hard work and commitment you have show in your ambassador role.
