Carshalton College was privileged to welcome members of the emergency services to conduct a live demonstration of a road traffic collision.
As part of the London Fire Brigade's Road Safety campaign, our students were guided through what happens when there is a serious road traffic collision and the casualty extraction procedures.
The MET police delivered a vehicle for the demo purposes.
The London Ambulance Service provided a technician in order to simulate their casualty care role at these incidents and to highlight how the emergency services work together to resolve incidents.
Louis, an officer from the London Fire Brigade presented and explained to our students each process as it happened as well as delivering road safety advice with his team, a specialist Fire Rescue Unit based in Croydon.
The audience was shown how the team dismantle a vehicle in order to release a trapped casualty.
Huge thanks to all the emergency services involved in bringing this valuable and enlightening demonstration to our students!
