STUDENT FROM CARSHALTON COLLEGE SELECTED BY UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS LONDON TO EXHIBIT THEIR WORK AT ORIGINS CREATIVES, LONDON IN JULY.
Aeryn Ling, a student at Carshalton College studying on the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication, has been selected to exhibit their work at Origins Creatives, taking place at the Truman Brewery in July.
Aeryn's submission, titled 'Intricacies of Daily life: An Exploration of Settings', and caught the attention of UAL Awarding Body’s curator amongst 400 submissions.
“My concept for this project is to produce a gallery scene (from my Tate Modern photographs), that uses smaller outcomes for the background painting spaces. This will combine my own personal examples of “everyday life” with a broader sense of scenery and introspection. I want to capture the beauty of the mundanity, and those little details of life that so often get overlooked and underappreciated. I want this piece to capture a single moment and allow you to take time looking into it, noticing little details about people and objects that make up ‘life’ itself.”
Annette Vigurs, the Course Leader for Art and Design at Carshalton College said the following about Aeryn’s work;
“Aeryn embodies the spirit of creativity not just through her skill in expression, but also in her artistic perception of the world around her. Aeryn has a thoughtful and contemplative approach to observing her subject matter which she deftly and sympathetically translates into her work one brush stroke at a time. This particular piece is just one such example of her method. What most stood out in this piece was her detailed and well observed subjects; space, place, atmosphere, character and expression have all been contemplated and finally represented in a single coherent piece of work.”
Origins Creatives is organised by UAL Awarding Body and provides art lovers, critics and industry professionals from the creative sector the chance to discover original creative talent from across the UK and celebrate students’ creativity and hard work.
