Kingston College Foundation Learning Two student, Thomas, has enjoyed four superb days of work experience at multi award winning global visual effects house, Framestore.

Thomas, who travelled to Framestore’s London based office in Chancery Lane, was set a brief to create concept art for a dystopian London set in the year 2300. Working in teams Thomas presented the project at the end of the work experience week in front of the Framestore Team.

Thomas says: “I really enjoyed this experience overall as it has given me an idea of what it’s like to travel and work in central London in a professional VFX studio. During the week I was taught how to use Photopea where you can animate the concept art. I had a presentation from concept artists who worked on Blade runner 2049 and Formula1, and I had a one to one with an animator who worked on creature effects for the film Beast. I also enjoyed a tour of their entire studio which included a top floor view of London to give inspiration for our brief. While there I worked with 12 other fellow students and had to engage with them all and work as a team. I also gained experience as a commuter as I had to travel to and from London on the train each day and walk to Chancery Lane.”

Thank you to Framestore, which has a proud history of developing extraordinary images and scenes across film, episodic, advertising and immersive experiences, winning every major industry award including BAFTA, Academy Award, Emmy, Cannes Lions, D&AD, Clio and VES.
