As part of Brighton Fringe Festival 2025, our Level 2 Performing Arts students at Kingston College had the exciting opportunity to travel to Brighton and experience a unique exhibition and immersive performance celebrating the life and work of renowned surrealist artist and writer Leonora Carrington (1917–2011).
The event, hosted at the historic Regency Town House, was curated and fundraised by one of our lecturers, Natasha Higdon. Students engaged with powerful performances and thought-provoking artworks that sparked discussions on creativity, storytelling and the role of women in the surrealist movement.
The exhibition, produced by The Writer’s Mark, showcases a series of art installations and theatrical performances inspired by Carrington’s extraordinary imagination. The Writer’s Mark is a company committed to celebrating surrealist voices through interdisciplinary art and theatre. This year’s event brought together local artists and theatre-makers to pay tribute to Carrington’s legacy and her role as a pioneering figure in surrealism.
The Leonora Banquet, which runs until 1st June, offers audiences a chance to immerse themselves in a world shaped by one of surrealism’s most visionary figures.
