Safeguarding

Health & Social Care students at Kingston College took part in an exciting five-day residential trip to the Gower Activity Centre in Wales which was packed with outdoor adventures, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. The experience began with a local scenic hike where they explored historical landmarks such as the Port Eynon Salt House and Culver Hole, while learning about edible wild plants, gathering wild garlic to later make garlic bread. That first evening, everyone settled in and enjoyed a group game, setting the tone for a fun and collaborative trip.

Throughout the week, students immersed themselves in a variety of hands-on activities, including fire-starting, shelter building, and cooking over a campfire. Afternoons were spent exploring the beach, playing games, and discovering rock pools. One of the most memorable days was spent hiking to a valley for rock climbing and rock hopping, where students supported each other in both physical challenges and teamwork roles.

The trip ended on a high note with a fun-filled surfing session at Rhossili Bay. Despite the cold water, students showed enthusiasm—whether surfing the waves, exploring the beach, or just enjoying the fresh sea air. A final morning of games and certificate presentations brought the trip to a close. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills, and create lasting friendships.
