Students from Carshalton College showcased their vocational talent in BrickworkPlumbing, and Digital Media at this year’s Greater London Skills Competition, joining learners from across the capital in a series of high‑level, industry‑focused challenges.

Digital Media Students Achieve Third Place

A major highlight came from the Digital Media category, where students MarkAndrea, and Ethan secured third place for their thoughtfully crafted mini‑documentary produced for International Women’s Day. Centered on the theme “Give to Gain,” their film combined creativity, research, and strong storytelling to explore themes of empowerment and community impact.

As part of their research process, the students interviewed Dr Caroline Molloy, MA Photography Course Leader and Research, Knowledge Exchange and Innovation Lead at the University for the Creative Arts. Dr Molloy’s practice, rooted in feminism, gender studies, and community-engaged photography, offered valuable insight that informed the documentary’s direction. Her contribution helped the students shape a film celebrating resilience, representation, and the significant contributions of women across creative industries.

Carshalton College extends sincere thanks to Dr Molloy for her time, generosity, and thoughtful guidance, which enriched the students’ learning experience.
