BTEC in Aviation Operations students at Kingston College recently visited Brooklands Museum, gaining first-hand insight into the UK’s rich aviation heritage as part of Unit 5: Development of the UK Aviation Industry Since 1945.
Students explored some of Britain’s most iconic aircraft, including an exclusive look inside Concorde, learning how this pioneering supersonic airliner transformed global travel and shaped modern aviation engineering. They experienced the evolution of aircraft design, from early post-war innovations to the technologies that paved the way for today’s commercial aviation sector.
During the museum tour, students engaged with interactive exhibits, historic airframes and real industry artefacts, deepening their understanding of how aircraft, airports and passenger expectations have developed since 1945. This immersive experience allowed them to connect classroom theory to real-world examples, supporting their knowledge of technological advancement, safety improvements and the UK’s role as a world leader in aviation progress.
The visit not only strengthened students’ academic understanding but also inspired their future aspirations in the aviation industry.
