Why did you choose to study a BTEC and why did you choose Kingston College?

I had tried A Levels for a year before choosing a BTEC and just found the pressure to fit into a very over done and generic type of student to be way too overwhelming so I began to search for either another school or another course and I ending up changing both!

Your plans after you complete your course?

After I complete the BTEC in Aviation I've accepted a place to study at the University of Exeter's Cornwall campus on their BSc Business and Environment with a proficiency in French.

Favourite part of your course?

My favourite part of the course was the more industry direct experiences like the talks we had from members of the CAA, British Airways Cabin Crew, Pilots and more, as well as the field trips to places like Brooklands Museum and our British Airways Experience Days. I don't think there are many other courses or colleges who would provide such experiences 😊

Is College life what you expected?

I have a few friends who had experienced college life so I thought I had a clue of what college was like only to find it’s so much more different (but in a good way!). College is weirdly both highly independent AND collaborative from the long independent research project to group roleplays which definitely took a while getting used to after being in a Sixth Form for a year. I've made some great friends and people I know I will keep in contact with even when separated by university

Any advice to those thinking about applying for your course?

Do it ASAP!! As long as you have even a little interest in aviation and have even a little academic drive you'll have absolutely no regrets.

Any opportunities you’ve enjoyed here that you particularly loved?

One opportunity I really enjoyed was going to an aviation conference in central London and I got the chance to network with some pilots and those were the same pilots that ended up coming to College and giving our class a talk due to the passion and enthusiasm me and my friends displayed in the conference.
