“I have loved every second of this course, and I will never forget what these past three years have meant for me,” says William Jones.
“I chose Art and Design as I wanted to develop myself further, I wanted to push myself into exploring new techniques and concepts through practical experimentations. I was originally told about Kingston College by my previous school, Blossom House. I started at Kingston at a time when I was anxious as lockdown was still quite prevalent then. Adapting to a new environment can be tough and it took time for me to properly settle in. Now looking back, I found that same choice would end up me developing as both an artist and as a person, resulting in this course and this College having a huge impact on my life.
“My favourite moments came from producing and building up my portfolio as it both told and developed my journey. Seeing this development growth has taught me that the more you produce and commit to a passion, the closer you are to realising it. Art is my dream and I want to keep developing this talent at university.
“Settling into a new environment can be difficult as it brings new things that show us a different perspective of learning. Most importantly it will challenge you to explore new and innovative ways of studying your interests whether that’s Fine Art, Graphic Design, or Illustration. As the year progresses you will begin developing your own style of work which will evolve and change through each assignment as the tasks challenge you in new and exciting ways, forcing you to adapt and approach problems different to how you would have before.
“Throughout my studies I have been given new opportunities to produce work, for example exploring new printmaking techniques made me further develop my printmaking skills and become confident with handling equipment and materials. This was all made possible by the incredible staff who helped push my ideas further and helped me develop the skills needed to approach my final major project. I hope to continue developing what I have managed to grow into a passion at Kingston University where I will be studying BA (Hons) Illustration Animation.
"A side note to all Level 3 Art and Design staff: Thank you so much for everything you have taught me, I have been impacted in so many ways as both a person and an art student and I am extremely grateful for everything that you have supported me with. I have loved every second of this course, and I will never forget what these past three years have meant for me. Thank you So much."
