On Wednesday, 5th March, South Thames College held its second Solar Careers Fair in partnership with Solar Energy UK. Around 180 students from across the group got the chance to meet 13 employers from the solar and green industries, finding out about the skills they’ll need and the exciting career opportunities available.
GSE brought along a Solar Panel Demo Rig, which they kindly donated to our construction students — a fantastic addition to their learning! Industry leaders also ran a series of short, insightful talks in our pop-up theatre.
In the afternoon, over 150 adults stopped by to chat with employers, explore roles in construction and sustainable industries, and even apply for job vacancies.
Our students had a great time, with highlights including "talking to companies," "learning how solar works," and "finding out about job and apprenticeship options in the solar industry."
