What inspired you to choose the HND Engineering course at Kingston College?
I need to complete the HND in Engineering in order to move onto Degree level at Portsmouth University. Kingston College offered a better course than previous colleges attended for the HNC, and the standard of teaching was far better than previous colleges, with teachers having planned and prepared lessons, along with a lot of knowledge on the subjects being taught. The assignments were tough but fair, with classes giving us a basic understanding of the concept before the questions made us think a little further. In previous institutions we had very disproportionate experiences, with classes either not related to, or much easier than the assignment.
How do you balance studying with other commitments, and what advice would you give to new students?
The course takes time. You MUST be prepared to spend weekends and working late into the evenings due to the long and challenging nature of the assignments. Be prepared to give up social events in order to hit deadlines.
What are your future career goals, and how is the HND helping you achieve them?
I want to create a future for myself in Mechanical Engineering, and completing the HND will allow me to progress onto university to get my degree.
What would you say to someone considering enrolling on this course?
Definitely worth it, as the opportunity this has provided me has saved me a lot of stress and debt, plus I get work experience whilst I am doing this, which makes me far more attractive for any future job opportunities should I decide to leave my current employer at some point in the future.
