Full Time GCSE student Aya has been making impressive strides since joining STCG Tennis in September. Known for her powerful groundstrokes and very fast serve, Aya often trains alongside adult players, demonstrating her commitment and skill.
In October, Aya competed in the AOC Regional Tennis Tournament at Chingford School of Tennis. To prepare, she practiced on the same courts two weeks prior with fellow competitor Jakub Lewicki and received expert guidance from her father, a Grade 4 coach who has supported her since the age of three.
On tournament day, Aya faced a tough opponent from Barnet & Southgate College. After losing the first set due to some early nerves, she regrouped and delivered a more consistent performance - adjusting her pace and forcing her opponent into longer rallies. Her determination paid off as she clinched the match in a nail-biting tiebreak, winning 10–8.
Aya now looks forward to representing the region at the AOC National Finals, hosted by Nottingham University in April 2026. She’s excited for the challenge and ready to showcase her talent on a national stage.
