Daniel explains why he chose a BTEC in Esports and his plans at university:
“Failing my A Level mock exams, despite being predicted high grades, made me realise that I would need a vocational course to perform at my best, without exam anxiety hindering my capabilities. I felt like I was only choosing subjects that I felt would be necessary for high-earning jobs, rather than subjects for hobbies I actively enjoy, such as gaming and online research. So when I came across Kingston College offering a BTEC in Esports, it hit me! A course with no exams, only coursework and practical assignments, all about the Gaming and Esports Industry! It felt like this course was specifically made for me!
“My time at Kingston College was pleasant. They ran clubs that matched my interests, taking part in Volleyball, Dungeons & Dragons, and of course the eSports Student Championships. I met and got to know some very great people, and while going separate ways, I get to hear from them every once in a while. I got along well with the very inspirational Esports tutors, having guided me on strategies to tackle large and intense essay assignments, like visualising each assignment as a level in a game where you rank up grades from meeting criteria.
“I will be progressing onto the University of Chichester in September to study a BA (Hons) Esports.”
