Why you chose to study Access and why you chose Kingston College?

After taking a break from my education due to mental health struggles, studying Access to Science was an opportunity to pursue my passion for a career in scientific research. Kingston College provided a suitable course to allow me to enrol in my chosen University.

Are you at university now, what are you studying and where, and how did the Access course prepare you for this?

Through achieving the grades I needed, I am now studying BSc Biomedical Science at the University of Warwick, completing my first year with the grades I wanted. The practical elements, such as labs, on the Access course provided me with experience and confidence to further this at university. As this Access course focused primarily on human biology, it is complimentary for those wanting to study biomedical science and other associated courses.

Any advice to those thinking about applying for your course?

While this course was provided with great academic and pastoral support, it is also built to prepare you for the independence required at university. Having time away from education made coming back very daunting, however at Kingston College I was supported from the start and that helped me to gain confidence very quickly.

To those thinking of applying, I encourage you to go for it and see what you can achieve. As for myself, the girl who had just enrolled at Kingston College, never would have believed what she has achieved now.
