Students studying Health & Social Care, Childcare and Science at Merton attended a Medical Mavericks workshop to find out more about the different types of careers open to them within the Healthcare sector.
Activities that students took part in included: recording and printing a heart ECG; using a real needle to take fake blood from a dummy arm; listening to their own pulse with a doppler; and taking an eye retina scan on an iPhone.
Career options for students studying these courses include paramedic, nurse, medical engineer, physiotherapist, cardiac physiologist and audiologist. The Medical Mavericks website enables students to check the salaries and career routes of each of these roles through school, college, university and Appprenticeships.
