BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts learners ats Kingston College have just completed their work experience with the Rose Theatre by practising auditioning for Emma on the main stage. Emma is a live adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic romantic comedy produced and performed at the Rose Theatre during September to October 2025.
The learners were invited to see the play before the project begun. They met David and Charli from the Rose who gave them an amazing insight into the industry with key advice on getting into acting on stage and other theatre roles. They talked about how Emma was written, casted and produced, and discussed what the students felt about the show. The consensus being it was hilarious and relatable. The script was shared; scenes were picked and students rehearsed in pairs for weeks in preparation for their final auditions on the main stage. Performances went extremely well this week and were followed by a fantastic feedback session from Charli and guest Nick Hockaday - Casting Director.
This fantastic exercise gave the students an opportunity to work with this renowned theatre on a successful and witty production! It built confidence, team skills and industry experience. Special thanks to the Rose for organising this brief with us and giving us your space and time. Charli and Nick thank you for your valuable feedback and acting tips.
