Our Level 2 Bricklaying students recently welcomed Ian from the May Garden Project, who introduced exciting work experience opportunities within their community garden.
One highlight of the project includes constructing a unique brick spiral herb patch, giving students the chance to apply their skills in a real-world setting.
During the session, Ian emphasised the importance of ethics in construction, encouraging students to consider “the process” and “the resources” involved. The discussion explored eco-friendly approaches to building, repairing, and maintaining structures, reinforcing sustainable practices in the trade.
May Garden Project also expressed interest in collaborating with other departments, including Carpentry and Media. Media students will play a key role in storytelling by visually documenting the work and promoting ethical practices inspired by the efforts of the bricklaying team.
