Safeguarding

Meet Luiza, a third year student on the BA (Hons) Integrative-Relational Counselling who says “My advice for potential students? Do not hesitate to start the course - you will graduate as a changed person with a huge insight into your self as well as others!”

“I chose Kingston College because I completed their Level 3 Certificate in Counselling programme and found the staff deeply knowledgeable and experienced in their therapeutic field.

“I was inspired to start the course following my work as a pastoral assistant at a secondary school and enjoyed talking to students greatly. This role gave me useful insight into the struggles young people are facing nowadays, and I wanted to learn more about the ways to help them with anxiety and their mental health.

“The most enjoyable aspects of my course are the practical exercises we get involved in during our sessions. I am immensely impressed with the knowledge and insights of our tutors, who often share their genuine experience with their clients which I find incredibly helpful and enriching. I also greatly enjoy integrating my knowledge with real life clients during my placements.

“My main difficulties were facing my own defence mechanisms in relationships with others, challenging my bias, and learning to set boundaries in current relationships. I have learnt a great deal about myself, which was a huge difficulty and yet, one of the biggest achievements.

I have gained over 80 hours of real work experience in my placements, where I have been seeing my clients. This experience has provided me with a terrific opportunity to put theory and skills into practice and observe how the clients benefit from our therapeutic relationship in their private and professional lives.

“My hopes for the future are to open my own private practice once I have graduated and maybe complete a Master’s degree corelated with therapy to advance my knowledge and experience further.”
