Local residents at Galsworthy House are receiving a special kind of care each week, thanks to the ongoing efforts of Kingston College Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty Therapy Diploma students.
As part of an ongoing social impact initiative, students studying Beauty Therapy are visiting Galsworthy House weekly to provide residents with a range of basic beauty treatments. These include hand and arm massages, simple skincare routines, nail shaping and polishing and other gentle treatments designed to promote wellbeing and relaxation.
The project has quickly become a highlight for both the residents and the students. For learners, it provides invaluable hands‑on experience with real clients in a supportive environment. For residents, it offers meaningful social interaction, personal care and the uplifting feeling of being pampered.
Grace Klos-Lim, Lecturer - Beauty Therapy said: “This is more than just practice for our students -it’s our way of giving back to the local community. The residents look forward to the visits, and the students gain confidence, communication skills and a deeper understanding of the power of therapeutic touch.”
The weekly visits reflect the Beauty department’s commitment to community engagement and the belief that practical learning can make a real difference in people’s lives.
