Safeguarding

Carshalton College recently welcomed Ben from Sean McInnes Sports Coaching, who delivered a series of engaging masterclasses to our Level 3 Sports students which focused on how to plan and run effective sports coaching sessions.

Students developed key practical and professional skills essential for the coaching industry. This included session planning, communication, adaptability, leadership, and creating inclusive, engaging environments for participants of different abilities.

Ben placed strong emphasis on professionalism, confidence, and the importance of reflective practice, skills that are vital for success in coaching roles.

Having industry experts like Ben involved in our curriculum is invaluable. He shared current coaching trends, expectations within the sports industry, and how modern coaches must adapt to changes such as participant needs, safeguarding standards, and evolving coaching styles. Students also gained insight into how to embrace feedback, manage challenges, and remain employable in a competitive sector.

These masterclasses helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, giving our students a realistic understanding of the industry and preparing them for future employment in sports coaching and related careers.
