Exploring Artistic Pathways at Kingston College
My original interest in the BTEC Level 3/4 Foundation Diploma in Art, Design & Media stemmed from the chance to specialise in an artistic pathway from a variety of lessons, resources and both independent and supported media practice. I wanted a chance to figure out where my interest in art led me. Kingston College is a familiar place as I’ve studied here two years prior on their BTEC Level 3 Art and Design, which convinced me to stay as I enjoyed it so much and love the facilities they offer. Throughout this course the wide range of options they offer allowed me to easily explore my interests and decide on which career path works best for me, which is where I began exploring the feminist art movement. Discovering how art connects to so many aspects of life really broadens your perception of both the importance of art and the effect it has on society. This course was able to fully reflect and teach a multitude of career paths available to you through this introduction.
Next Steps: Blending Sociology and Art
My plan after this course is to expand my qualifications and interests by studying sociology at university. This foundation course has not only given me a chance to tap into my passion in the creative industries but also link my interest in other aspects of life into art, such as sociology, which has made me realise my interests shouldn’t be limited by one or the other. In the near future I’m working towards my goal of continuing down this artistic pathway and linking my passions together in a future career path, such as promotional work for sociological issues.
Advice for Future Students
This course should be taken as an opportunity to explore all the options, facilities and interesting opportunities on offer. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s to make use of every opportunity that’s available to you and be open to new experiences, especially meeting all the creative students and creating connections that will someday become important in such a competitive field of work.
Creative Collaborations and Exciting Facilities
The facilities aren’t the only thing I’ve loved about this course, opportunities such as their connection to FuseBox International for Creative Youth is an amazing chance to kickstart a professionally creative pathway. Simply by putting yourself out there you’ll find more experiences and opportunities that benefit your creative future and growing knowledge about what you want to do.
Supportive Tutors and Lifelong Friends
All the tutors, staff and students are amazing to work alongside and get to know. Everyone is friendly, welcoming and always willing to help. This course guarantees you’ll meet a variety of interesting and unique people, bringing together so many new experiences and shared interests.
