Safeguarding

BTEC Triple Distinction* student Charlotte Cooper has completed an Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care with us this year. Charlotte has accepted a place at Brighton University to study a BA (Hons) in Criminology and Psychology “to hopefully build the right stepping stones to a career in a clinical and counselling psychologist setting”.

Charlotte says: “I chose a BTEC because the course had a wider range of topics compared to the A Levels I looked at. I also specifically chose Kingston College due to the impression that I was given when I visited as it was very friendly as well as their Ofsted grading and the overall grades most students leave the college with.

“College life is very different to what I was expecting, there is a lot more freedom that allows students to experiment with who they are whilst being in a safe environment. The workload is also more manageable than I thought it would be and the support from the teachers is very helpful and they really take the time to help you.

“For students thinking about studying health and social care and transitioning from school to college I would say focus on your studies and allow yourself to be who you want to be and you’ll find the right people for you. Also don’t be afraid to talk to your teachers, they are there to help and support you and get you the best grades* achievable.”

Triple Distinction* is the equivalent of 3 A*s at A Level.
